The basic principle of having a high res sensor is that in good light you can get a very high resolution shot or a cropped/zoomed shot . In lower res you can get a lot of noise reduction in low light and in good light an oversampled image is pinpoint, I have found this to be the case with the 808, most of my "pureview" shots come of great first time, whilst the full res ones have stupid levels of details.
Really not a photographer but getting in to it a bit, but I do have some knowledge of dsp so the principle makes sense to me.
I've had a skim throught the whitepaper, will read properly when I get a chance (http://i.nokia.com/blob/view/-/27238...whitepaper.pdf)
I've put up a few in photobucket if anyone wants to see what full res photos taken by a very amateurish person looks like
