    Photography book club

I was asked a little while ago about a book club for photographic books.

There used to be one, and leaflets used to fall out of just about every photo mag I looked at, but I haven't seen a leaflet for ages. Years.

Anyone know ..... are they still around? If so, where?

    If not, what happened?

Was it one of those book clubs that would let you order 4 or 5 titles at £5 for the lot with free delivery and then you had to buy a book a month for the full term of your membership, usually 12 months or so and if you didn't order one they would send you, and charge you for, their nominated book of the month?

If it is, then personally I would avoid those clubs, you might not get that great first time deal with Amazon, but at least with Amazon you get to buy as many books as you want when you want and you can review the books you've read or look at reviews for books you think you might want to read before buying them (or not if the reviews are bad) and all without paying a fee unless you want to subscribe to the Prime account features.

Sort of. It was, IIRC, 4 books for varying but heavily discounted prices, from about 50p to £10 or so, but then one per quarter from the quarterly catalog for a year.

And I agree with you about avoiding them, but the person that asked me wanted to join one, even under those conditions.

With it so easy to get your hands on specialist books from Amazon et al I think these things have died a (well deserved) death.
