Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC for Canon

Hi, was thinking about this lens for my Canon EOS 20D as a indoor/party shot lens. Found a few reviews all of which are rating this lens very highly. Would appreciate any comments from anyone who may have one or better alternatives.

Best price I found was pixmania £252.00 although I am not sure about them - ordered something before from them and the box was not damaged but the item in the box was

Other retailers usually are around the £268 mark and HK imports are not too bad at £255 but not worth the potential hassle if faulty or taxed.

it's £278 at pixmania for the canon fit, the lower price is for the nikon fit

id not bother with an import either as if you get a uk EX lens you get a 3 year warranty with it

The Sigma lens is pretty much on the same price range as the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM. So, which is the better lens?

i can't offer that specific advise (althought i suspecct the cannon to be better from reputation) but as they are quite different focal lengths you may have to go with the one that meets your needs. many find the 50mm to be too long on digital as an indoor lens, whereas the 30mm would be about right.

go Canon 1.8 50mm - its a bargain of a price! 50mm on the lower end Digital EOS = 80mm which is nearly perfect for Portrait pics
