I may be being naive or I just need to read the specs better,but what is the difference between them. Except from the fully modular interface compared to the semi modular.

Depends what model and your usage is, the AX series is fully modular and has a gold certificate meaning its more energy efficient some models also feature 2 EPS connectors.
When building my rig I wanted a 850w PSU and choose the HX over the AX because it has 6 PCI-E connectors for multi gpu rigs the AX has 4, plus more 4 pin connectors 12 on the HX, 8 on the AX though it loses the extra EPS connector the AX has.
Both carry 7 year warranty's so you should be good either way.
Ahh right okay. How important is the extra eps connector? I don't plan on going sli any time soon,but I don't want to pay more money if I don't have to.
From memory their for multi CPU boards which require the extra EPS connector. Also really depends on your build and what parts you are putting in, only reason I picked the 850w is I might overclock and add more GPUs down the line if you don't plan on either you will get away with a much lower wattage PSU.
Okay, I understand now (: I Do plan to oc. 1 more question sorry, I am going to be setting up a 4 hdd raid array at raid0. Will that require a lot of power?
Looking at something like a 2TB Seagate drive it uses 5.4w under full load so not really lol.
Okay, thanks very much for the help
I'd go ax personally. It is easier to make custom cables!
IIRC all the AX are OEMed from Seasonic as well as the HX650, however the rest at CWT.
Had some issues with the one ive bought a few months ago but the support from corsair was quick and traded for a good one.
A fairly authoritative (and seemingly frequently updated) list of manufacturers for Corsair PSUs is available here;
