Corsair PSU: RM vs. RMi vs. HXi

We have recently introduced our newest member of our PSU family, the RMi series. With this new PSU line sitting between the RM and HXi series, we thought that it's best that we break down the differences between all three families to clear up some confusions that we've been seeing on the forums since the RMi's announcement.

The differences are sharply defined via bullet points to draw the fine line between each families.

    RM vs. RMi vs. HXi

It's a shame that his has come a little late for me as I have recently upgraded my PSU, but for others that are looking into getting a new PSU take a look at this:

If I have to use that God awful corsair software one more time...

I still can't even get my H80i LEDs to remain the same colour, they just randomly change after a few reboots. Same with the fan speed.

If rather save money and get the RM series.

No, it doesn't work at all with the H80i. Doesn't even recognise it

Assuming that you've already tried different USB headers on your board, have you tried using this type of cable? http://content.etilize.com/large/10015544.jpg. Mini type B to type USB cable, just to see if its a cable problem.

I have tried everything. I've changed everything in the system except the cooler, and it still does it. New windows version and everything.

Re: Corsair PSU: RM vs. RMi vs. HXi

The RMi 1000w is actually an HXi 1000W internally with some new components that boost performance while reducing efficiency a little bit according to techpowerup:https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/...RM1000i/4.html.

Therefore, I think that the RMi is superior to the HXi in performance terms which is confusing, however, the RMi is the newer model so maybe this explains it.

Incorrect. JonnyGuru is still the review site that provides you guys excellent PSU reviews.. The person who started it (Jon G) is now working for Corsair. Jon G from Corsair is no longer doing reviews for JonnyGuru.com (review site). So if you see a Corsair PSU review from JonnyGuru.com, that's not from Jon G from Corsair... but rather a team of reviewers from JonnyGuru.com.

I hope that clears up the confusion.

They are really close except for the efficiency.. and I think the performance you're referring to has something to do with the type 4 cables that's included in the RMi; http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/20...-type-4-cables
