    Pre-built machine for fiancée's grandpa

    Hi,

My fiancée's grandpa needs a new computer, he's had his current machine for seven years and uses it to browse the web and write the occasional word document. His keyboard, monitor and mouse are adequate, it's just a tower he's after.

I've always built my own machines and that of my family's but I've got a lot on my plate at the moment so I'm looking for a few pre-built recommendations? To provide some guidance, I think a low-end dual-core processor, two gigs of RAM, optical drive and a 160GB HDD with Windows 7 would more than meet his needs. He wants to spend less than £250.

    Many thanks,

    Leon

Budget? Hell a low end Revo would do.

He wants an optical drive and I couldn't find anywhere that sells the Revo with one.

Why don't you just get him a Revo and an external DVD drive then?

Yes, that is what I'm considering doing, it's a bit of a messy solution (imo) but may be the cheapest option. Ideally the machine would have an optical drive built-in.

    ASRock 330 ION

edit - might not have Windows 7 with this package though and so it will be over £250 budget...

    Hi guys,

Quick update, I went with the Acer Aspire Revo R3610 and bought an external drive to accompany it. Thank you for your suggestions.
