    Cheap laptop with SSD

I haven't really paid much attention to the laptop market in years, so wondered if anyone was aware of any manufacturers selling a cheapish laptop with a SSD, or are they still reserved for the high end? Even if it's a configurable extra.

I'd lile the SSD for the resposivness and the fast boot times, but this laptop wpn't get taxed much so doesn't need tp be powerful. I would just buy an SSD separate, but this is not for me so I want to keep it simple from the warenty point of view.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

I think you're still looking at over £1000 for one with an SSD. I think Samsung do a Dual-boot thing to boost start times, but the SSD for this is only 8Gb.

I think Smudger is right, unfortunately.

The Samsung option sounds interesting, there are also laptops out there that may not have an SSD, but do have a quick boot mode. This doesn't boot into the OS but into a very basic interface for quickly checking email etc which might be worth looking at from a budget point of view.

There's the Sony Vaio C Series VPC-CA1S1E which is given a good write up in the linked review, which notes that there's a "quick-boot mode, which simply loads a bare-bones browser rather than Windows 7" - takes 20 secs to fire up apparently.

You can now get this notebook for £600 from Tesco Direct (all hail the supermarket) which seems like a decent price.

Try the HP Envy 17 series they have two HD bays, you can always slot in a ssd into one of the bays.

    Hope you find this useful.
