    System has no power

    Hi,

My first post. Am a bit of a newbie with PC builds.

I took deliver of my new parts today, but after trying to power up I get absolutely nothing.

I've added the cpu & heatsink *and connected the fan power, inserted the 24pin power to the motherboard and the 4pin 12v ATX power. Inserted the power cable for the front panel into the mother board and triple checked this against the mother board manual. But still no joy. No Fans, lights, beeps, nothing.

i dont have any other computers to test the power supply with.

My system comprises of the following:

    Silverstone Fortress FT03S case
    GByte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 mATX motherboard
    Intel i7 2600k processor
BeQuiet Dark Rock Advanced CPU Cooler
    650w Antec Truepower Modular PSU
    60gb Agility3 SSD
    Slot load DVD drive
    2 x 4gb Vengeance Corsair DDR

Any help would be much appreciated.

Remove all the power supply wires and start again to make sure you haven't shorted anything, another daft point but make sure you flick the switch on the back of the PSU, I know its daft but easily forgotten.

    Re: System has no power

Thanks. I've disconnected everything and tried again, but no joy. The case fans are connected directly to the PSU via a molex adaptor, so I disconnected everything (including the motherboard power) but not the fans - they still don't power up (will they if nothing else is connected?)

Is this a dead PSU or motherboard?

    Re: System has no power

The system is now up and running. Was missing one of the motherboard mounts/screws which must have prevented the power up in some way.

All working great. Only slight niggle is that my case has three fans (Silverstone FT03), but my motherboard (GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3) has only one onboard fan header. So I have to use the included molex adapter for the fans and power them direct from the PSU - leaving them on full speed all the time.

Are there any fan controls that would work with the case and motherboard

Am overall pleased, as this was my ver first build and I'm not left with an expensive paper weight!
