    help with DDR2 Ram

    Hi Guys

Just wondering i currently bought some DDR2 ram 2gb from scan back in 2008:
    Corsair TwinX 2GB DDR2 8500DOM

i wanted to add more ram but wasn't sure whether it would be compatible or would work with the current ram:

    Corsair Memory XMS2 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 (800) Dual Channel Desktop

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-(...edcas-5-5-5-18

    Any help appreciated

    Re: help with DDR2 Ram

Even if it does work, your current RAM won't run at 1066MHz anymore, it'll have to run at the lower speed of 800MHz along with the new set.

    Re: help with DDR2 Ram

But we are not on about how much RAM something uses... We are on about speeds

And as we all know, every application has to use RAM including those games

Anyway, it seems you just want to argue and not help OP.

    Re: help with DDR2 Ram

that's fine if the ram runs at 800, as long as it runs and is compatible with the current one i have in the system.
At the moment i cant afford to upgrade the motherboard to ddr3 which has cheaper ram.

    Re: help with DDR2 Ram

I don't expect to be called upon to cleanse threads in the technical section

The discussion is about RAM speed, not the amount a particular game requires.

That aside, there may be scope for disagreement on the technical jssues, but I expect that to be on technical merit, not an excuse for cheap point scoring.

You have over 100 posts on this forum, so have you considered taking advantage of the For Sale section?

Someone may well have a set of the exact RAM that you're looking for, and maybe even a bit cheaper than you're looking to pay

There's always the Hexus.Trust if you're a bit wary of who to buy from.. Most members will have at least one or two Trust reviews on their account, which is at least something to go from.
