My sister's looking for a new laptop (old one is on the fritz).
Main usage is word, internet browsing, streaming tv, using Rosetta stone, watching DVDs, and possibly some light gaming, but only 'vintage' titles like Populus, so nothing particularly taxing.
However she's the sort of person who doesn't like changing computer very often and will use it until it falls to pieces/ physically cannot do what she needs it to do, and she's terrible at installing bloatware, despite me frequently explaining that it slows the machine down. So I'd like to make sure that the new laptop has a decent amount of performance headroom, both to make it last a bit longer, and also to stop her calling me up quite so often to complain that it's slowed to a crawl!
Her budget is around £500. I've had a quick look, but I have a hard time keeping track of performance comparisons between laptop CPUs etc, so thought I'd see if the hexus community can help me out.
For bonus points, if you can find a laptop with a region-free/ RPC-1 Dvd player that would be fantastic (as she travels back and forth to Brazil, so will often pick up Dvd's to watch while she's out there).
