    11.6" ultrabook - what's out there?

    Hi,

I'm looking for an 11.6" ultrabook type laptop for around £500.

screen resolution is an important factor as I've got programs that won't work below around 720px height.

I've got no real idea what's out there at the moment, and what I can expect for that sort of money.

An SD slot would be ab advantage as I'll be using on the move and transferring and editing photos taken my DSLR

I'm pretty happy with my Asus s200e vivobook (touchscreen) Resolution: 1366x768 :

I did swap it out for an SSD pretty much immediately.

It does have a very glossy screen though, and I normally prefer matte screens everywhere else.

actually just realized I've got more than I thought.

I can go up to £600.

Unfortunately this fantastic world of high pixel desity we seem to have entered in the tablet world is STILL yet to bleed back into the laptop world. I bought a 350 quid netbook a year ago to keep me going until something small (below 15"), light and portable with a decent GPU performance and a high res screen (i.e anything higher than 720p) appeared on the market but they just dont exist... I guess they dont want my money.

Best of luck on your search, keep us updated if you find anything outside of Hexus!

Not exactly ultrabook in terms of thickness but there's the Scan gaming LG5. 11.6" and has pretty nice specs for the price.

Also, has 1366x768 resolution and an SD card slot on the front.

And 1080p screens. They're slowing feeding down from the premium to the standard segment, though for £600 you might struggle.

    Re: 11.6" ultrabook - what's out there?

I noticed in the recent HP announcement:

    http://www.infoworld.com/d/computer-...barrier-219205

they don't mention the resolution of the 11.6" screen despite being proud of the others. I'm guessing it is still stuck on 1366x768, just like my old E350 cpu one from years ago.

Don't forget the new Sony thing
    http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/04/s...pro-11-review/

Very light weight, but very reasonable batterylife.
