    I'm surprised no one has suggested a chromebook? Cheap as chips, fast, and virtually indestructible.

    They've come a long way in the last few months, there's new a pretty sizeable selection of models too.

    For the intended users I'd probably play it safe with a Windows notebook but, to be fair, I've never used a Chromebook so they could well be a good shout.
