Screen Replacements

Hi all,

Posting here hoping someone can give me some confidence or point me in the right direction. Anything is greatly appreciated!

So a couple of days back i cracked the screen on my laptop. Usually, being mainly a desktop PC owner i've never had to deal with this so i have no idea where to go. I've done a quick search of the laptop repair places in my area and sent out a few emails but wanted to ask everyone here what they would do because honestly... they all just look a bit dodgy.

The reason im being picky about this is that it's a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, 258GB SSD, 8 GB Ram, i7 etc. I spent a lot of money on it, love it (even though i've smashed it) and its not any old screen (QHD+ Touchscreen)

As for the extent of the damage if it makes any difference the glass/digitizer is cracked from the point of impact to most corners of the screen with really fine cracks. Though the display itself seems ok.

To the point, what are your experiences with this, where do i go?

Note: I have 2 warranties on this laptop and no they don't cover it.

Who are the warranties with? Find out how much they charge for accidental repairs to the screen, assuming they offer a repair service for issues outside of normal warranty cover.

I would have suggested looking at buying your own replacement screen and fitting it yourself but that might not be as easy or even as cheap as getting it done through an authorised service center and if the companies you've seen are not authorised service centers then it might invalidate the warranties you currently hold.

While this isn't a Thinkpad, Lenovo do have a hardware service manual. And that lists the part number:
VIUU3 LCD Module TS 90400232

But looking up the FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) on ebay yields no hits. Google returns a few but not in the UK. It's very pricey at $350. No wonder, it's an 4K IPS panel with touch.
