    Lenovo Thinkbook 13s G2 ITL - Faulty trackpad - Lenovo won't repair

    Hi all,

    Hope you're good,

I've got a Lenovo Thinkbook 13s G2 ITL - it's got an intermittently faulty trackpad, it doesn't work consistently or properly. It will randomly freeze and stop moving properly until I press it again, or move my hand differently. I've used MANY laptops, and know of someone with exactly the same laptop with exactly the same problem.

It's been well discussed on the lenovo forums, and hardware replacement of the trackpad has resolved this for other people. It seems to be the only solution, and a clear hardware fault in all these laptops. Yet, mine is outside of the (12month) warranty period, so Lenovo support are saying that I'll need to pay to have this repaired.

Does anyone have any advice on this? I thought there was the general rule that items need to work for longer than 12 months?

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Josh

Have you ran Vantage and made sure everything is update?

We're getting similar issues at work with our Lenovo's, all AMD ones, I think yours is an Intel one right?

If you leave it for a bit and don't press anything does it then come back to life after a while, that's what I get with mine, with both the trackpad and an external BT mouse, I don't think this is just trackpads, I think there's something else, Lenovo know it and are waiting for a fix from elsewhere....

Mine's Intel i7, the other person I know with the issue is using Intel i5, and seems to get more freezes than me. I've found it seems fine with an external mouse though.

Really puts me off buying Lenovo ever again.

    I have a X395 thinkpad (AMD ryzen 3700u)

both the track pad right click and the right button above the trackpad that is used with the red dot thingy don't work, I don't think they ever did I just didn't notice.
