    Recommend a quiet PSU?

    Hi All

Managed to get my mouse fixed, so now onto sorting my PSU. It's been making a humming sound recently when PC's been off, so thought it was best. I've had two Zalman's over the last couple of years, both have had problem's after a fairly short amount of usage, so want to steer clear of them.

Basically I'm looking for something in the 750 - 850 watt range (probably don't need all that but might pickup a second 5850 soon for xfire). Has to be good quality, quiet and doesn't buzz when switched off!

Needs to power an i7 920 OC'd to 3.5ghz, 5850, 3 HDD's, and an SSD. So nothing too demanding.

    Any recommendations?

    Re: Recommend a quiet PSU?

Be Quiet and NZXT seem to have the lowest noise levels sub 650W, so take a look at the following:

    580W 80+ Silver Be Quiet (21.2dB): http://www.scan.co.uk/products/580w-...-212db-eps-12v £90
    650W 80+ Gold NZXT (20dB): http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-...-12v-140mm-fan £99
    550W 80+ Gold Be Quiet (15.2dB): http://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-...-152db-eps-12v £107

All provide ample wattage, and the 80+ rating isn't make or break so really just pick the noise level to suit your pocket.

Thanks. They seem to be what I'm looking for.

Will 550 /650 watts be enough for my PC spec, seeing as I want to go xfire at some point too?

Should be plenty: http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...-sli-review/14 with an i7 965, watercooling gubbings and two 560 Ti in SLI they got a combined wattage of 450, of which about 300 was down to the 560s
