Re: Public Service Announcement. Cheap PSU overheaded and killed my rig

Man this happened to me once. I bought a cheap novatech psu and it took out both my graphics cards. You learned your lesson though! A decent quality psu should have much less chance of damaging anything else if it blows. It makes me mad that these piece of crap psu's even exist. The amount of budget gaming pc's that must've been destroyed by these things...

2 rails design, 20A each max. Combined output will be >40A. So it is at most a 450w psu with crappy design and components. See hoe the wattage cheated you. Spend at least £50 on psu next time and buy known brands.

Tbh OCZ psu is not very good. Try to find some seasonic design. Remember the brand itself does not matter (as long as it's noy from nowhere), what matters is the manufacturer. As far as I know, OCZ is not using the best design. Check out this review: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...urer,2913.html. You will see what these brands are baking.

Yeh I've heard that Seasonic make some of the best PSU's and I know a lot of companies just stick their brand on them. The good thing about OCZ PSU's is that they don't tend to destroy components when they blow and OCZ are really good for just sending you out a brand new replacement. My PSU has been going strong for a good year or so but I haven't really pushed it in terms of power draw to be fair. I'm still happy to go with them though
