    Returning GS600 - Alternative?

My GS600 has a noise issue and I am returning it to Dabs for a refund. What ~600w PSU is recommended? I'm looking at this but it's just out of stock. What other suggestions? Also will the 550w XFX be enough to power my rig?

For a single card system a 450W PSU is usually enough.

    OCZ ZS Series 650W (£55 @ Dabs)
    http://skinflint.co.uk/ocz-zs-series...w-a631079.html
Independantly regulated, all Japanese capacitors, fairly slow spinning fan, so such be quiet, 3 year warranty. IMO a better choice than the XFX 550W unit, as the XFX is group regulated.
Xigmatek Centauros are basically lower quality, modular versions of the same platform that OCZ uses for the ZS Series.

This is a decent choice if you want modular and very quiet.

For a few £ more this is better:
    Seasonic G-450 (SSR-450RM) (£68 @ Scan)

With an overclocked FX-8320 you should be looking at 550W or more. The XFX 550W should be fine.

Okay Thanks for the advice. Ideally I'd feel safer going a little over than cutting it short at 450w. I think it's between the OCZ 650w and the XFX 550w (would have been 650w but I can't find it anywhere!). If I order tomorrow from somewhere like Scan I should have it on Thursday, can't be doing with this noise from the GS. I didn't design the PC to be quiet with the bundled case fans however this PSU is just too loud. Anybody have any opinions on the CX600M? Better or worse than XFX or OCZ?

    Thanks

    Re: Returning GS600 - Alternative?

Your CPU + basic system at maximum load can draw nearly 300W when overclocked, and your graphics card alone 150W, so yes - you'd be cutting it short.

You shouldn't accept a loud PSU, no. Most of the decent branded ones are quiet even under load. Be Quiet is a good alternative, though not cheap. I've heard a lot of bad reports about Corsair PSUs, that they're popular in pre-built systems but on enthusiast forums they don't get recommended much.

    Re: Returning GS600 - Alternative?

I'm sure the PSU experts like Cat will along shortly but I would go for the XFX.

The CW600M is also CWT-made like the GS600 (I had thought that GS was Seasonic but I guess not: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm).

OCZ I have only ever had trouble with (and I had the sense to avoid their SSDs: my failures were RAM (x2) and a PSU). Basically, Seasonic is probably the best PSU OEM and XFX is the cheapest way to get a Seasonic.

Okay great, I'll hang on till I get a couple more opinions! As long as 550w gives me enough juice to run my FX8320 OC to around 4.8GHZ tops and my GTX 760 OC overclocked (which my Corsair GS600 manages, no trouble in terms of performance. Just the noise!) Leaning more towards the XFX! 'Expert' opinions greatly appreciated (though all you guys are experts compared to my knowledge)

    Re: Returning GS600 - Alternative?

jeez Scan, I now realise why the 650w went out of stock and has been removed from the site - It's now on the eBay outlet. Which works out more expensive as I don't have free delivery there. Great! Well atleast the option is there for XFX 650w @ 58.86 + 4.98 p&p. Anyone think it's worth me calling up tomorrow to see if I can get free delivery.. was looking to buy a memory card reader aswell..!

    EDIT: Have ordered XFX 550w
