    That's true

Well overclocking the FX would be your biggest fear, probably about the same as the Phenoms X6. Depends on how much you push it 200W on a high overclock is not uncommon, so mild OC rough estimate would be 150-170W region.

You could work out roughly the power consumption of the GPU from THIS.

As protocol2511 said you do need to take overclocking into consideration 550W-650W I'd say (depending on other components in your system and how extreme overclock you will be looking at).

Also take into consideration your cooling as if you do opt for water cooling they also consume power (pump).

Re: Help me find a good PSU

Im really thinking of the 750 OCZ one actually because of the LEDs ><, but its OEM is Sirtec and its not really a recommended OEM. Anandtech's 550W review is skeptical of build quality :/

So Seasonic 550W or Inwin 600W.

The Inwin is based on Channel Well though (apparently CW is as good as Seasonic?). Its ratings are:
    +3.3V@24A, +5V@24A, +12V1@25A, +12V2@25A, +12V3@25A, +12V4@25A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@3A

    Seasonic is:
    +3.3V@20A, +5V@20A, +12V@45A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@2.5A

The inwin looks pretty good on the ratings and is £5 cheaper

    Edit:
I realized that in my chasis the PSU fan will be facing down, so scratch the LED requirement. (Dream PSU )

Also, I have the Cooler master Seidon 120M water cooler for now.

I plan to overclock the 8350, as much the the mediocre water cooler can handle ^^

Efficiency variation has absolutely zero effect on the rated load provision. From the link provided above 750W would be completely overkill.

If you can, get a hybrid modular or fully modular, so much easier using only the cables you actually need. Corsair PSUs are descent and reliable

Re: Help me find a good PSU

The Inwin's OEM is Power man apparently according to this site. Guess Ill go with Seasonic 550W. I plan to overclock the FX as much as I can, the 7970, Ill leave as is, not a fan of gpu overclocking.

Depends on the model, unfortunately Corsair don't stick to a single OEM supplier, so you need to check the Wattage and model number against a table to see who's behind the name.

I have a Be Quiet 680W Modular on order to hopefully eliminate the Coil Whine from the XFX 750W Black. Worst superpower ever, hear noises others can't.

No, I mean efficiency variation is effected by load; not the opposite Thus a very low load and very high loads would prove slightly less efficient. Not by much obviously.

Gold certified just nets you about 2% efficiency difference at 20%, 50% and 100% load for instance.

But also you mainly want to be looking at the rated amperage and probably the protection offered by the power supply (OCP, OVP etc).

But yeah you can't really go wrong with the stated power supplies you've chosen (XFX, Seasonic, InWin), 550W-650W is fine.

Just look at the reviews on the InWin and Seasonic and pick the best one really; both decent

Re: Help me find a good PSU

This one is on sale for .£76.38 (Seasonic 650W bronze)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-...roductId=79927

Should I go for it? (and how long do these sales last?)

Re: Help me find a good PSU

Minimum fan speed of the Seasonic M12II (SS-xxxAT) design seems to be 1000RPM, so not what I would consider quiet.

It's quite hard to find anything below £80 which is clearly superior to the Seasonic G-450 / G-550.

In Win and Powerman are the same company btw. Hopefully you spotted this review on RHTX:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/I...anderIII_600W/
Obviously it's not as good as it could be ripple suppression wise - everything else is decent - but for the right price it's a good option IMO as long as you don't allow it to live in high ambient temperatures.

I think I will go for the Seasonic 650W. Its 76, and 50W more and Seasonic.

Even though its just bronze, I dont think it affects me, electric bills are included in my package
