    Haswell Compatible?

I'm wondering whether I can reuse an old power supply in a future Haswell build. It's a Seasonic S12II power supply. The model is SS-500GB Active PFC F3 (as stated on the box). It seems to tick the right boxes: 24P ATX, 8P EPS12V, (6+2) PCI-E.

I know it won't be able to utilise the C6/C7 power states but the system will not be put in standby / sleep mode. Also this won't be used in a high power-draw system, i.e. no overclocked CPU or dual GPU... .

I believe this is the right link to the technical specifications: http://www.seasonicusa.com/S12II.htm

    Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick reply. I was unsure as looking at my receipt for the PSU, it's dated 13/01/2008. That's like a different generation in the computer world lol.

    Re: Haswell Compatible?

PSU tech has generally been static, apart from some of the newer C states. More efficient, sure, but if you have 24p, 8-pin EPS, PCI-E (that is sufficient for your GPU) you're generally good

You can still use older states like S3 standby, which is fine for most people.

Even without a "haswell compatible" PSU it'll still work fine.

    Whatever you have is sufficient
