    Why bother?

Same old news people in Iraq dance and cheer because another British/American soldier has been killed etc.

We are there tying to help their country and they don't give a ****, they just throw it back at us, why bother?

Sometimes I just think why don't we just nuke the ungreatful little gets...

Depends on how many dance and cheer surely, if it's about 70% of the pop then let's get out and let em have a civil war and deal with the winners.

If the situation was reversed I'm sure we'd still be over the moon after four years of saluting our occupying Iraqi masters, with no end in sight...

As long as he is friendly to the west...........lets face it the Iraqis have never known democracy so can't handle it, a country with a mixture of tribes, sects, "races" and religion...the country is a nightmare.

Good plan, only you forgot that the winners will be the most violent and ruthless, and will probably hate us the most.

This situation is almost impossible to control. I was thinking the other night we should just pull out and let them get on with it. But as has been said the country will implode, however they are already killing each other along with our troops (just this morning 20 dead with a chlorine gas bomb). I think the only way is to get the UN in but they wont as long as US/UK are there. Its a terrible thought that to get some proper help into Iraq 1000s of innocents maybe 100,000s will have to die ontop of all those who have already died. I wouldnt like to have the conscience of some of the world leaders who sanctioned the invasion.

    Really?

If the reason for invading Iraq wasn't because of the oil, then why haven't we invaded the dozen other countries who pose a threat to western civilization, or who oppress their peoples, or refuse to give democracy a chance?

    Open your eyes.

Stupidest comment I've heard in ages.

As they say on 'Through the Keyhole' lets review the facts:

    1. They had WMDs, err nope proven wrong.
    2. They where a threat to destablise the region, not really.
    3. Sadam was a nasty person, yep but IIRC as many people have been killed since US/UK went in than Sadam killed in the last 20 years
    4. They have lots of oil, errr yep

Oil is running out and a precious resource especially to the west the people of Iraq are irrelevant you and I are irrelevant if the Americans want the oil they will have it if they want Irans oil they will have it by artificially starting a war if they have to. Have peace campaigns voice your anger on forums go marching and protesting about the futility of it all. Do you really think the US really cares what we think or do. Keeping a few key countries on side to back them in there next campaign for oil(oops I mean democracy) is all that they care about. Where is all the protests from western governments they are muted at best. Why? Because we all need the oil as much as them. America and the west need oil to survive our economies depend on it without it we will all go down the road to ruin and that will never happen as long as there is oil in the ground for us to take and use. Of course we all live in democracies and we can vote our governments out and leap and cheer saying that got rid of those nasty people. Then when we all wake up we find that the next lot are pursuing exactlly the same aims just hidden under a different just cause. Well who is to blame then? Take a look in the mirror. Because it is not the arabs or on any other second or third world country who were happily going about their business until we polluted them with our idea of freedom GREED. Corporate greed which we all readily participate. Nothing will change until we change but we wont because we are always right according to our way of thinking. Until the oil runs out that is.
