Polling stations are open 14 hours. How long does it take to get to a polling station and vote - less than an hour. Do any shifts last longer than 12 hours? Probably not (and for those that do - Postal vote)
No justification at all to make it a holiday.

No, there aren't enough days in the week as is - taking a day of to vote, an activity which takes 10 - 15 mins max is just plain silly.

Its better to increase the minimum statory holiday entitlement.
Why on earth would it be a good idea to force people to take a day off at the same time?
