    What to do with Abu?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16914401
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012...u-qatada-trial

Radical cleric Abu Qatada is to be released on bail weeks after the European Court of Human Rights blocked his deportation to Jordan.

Mr Justice Mitting told the UK's Special Immigration Appeals Commission the cleric should be freed within days.

The Home Office said it disagreed with the decision and the cleric continued to be a threat to national security.
Personally I think radical cleric is a massively over-complimentary term. A radical cleric is one on a skateboard this guy is better described as an Al-Qaeda officer, some have testified that he is AQ's leader in Europe. There is evidence he funds terrorism around the world. Convicted of direct involvement in a terrorist plot in Jordan and wanted for terrorism in 7 other countries.

    From wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Qatada
Abu Qatada has been described by Jamal al-Fadl, in his testimony in the Southern District Court of New York on February 6, 2001, as a member of al-Qaeda’s "Fatwa Committee". According to the indictment of the Madrid al-Qaeda cell, Abu Qatada was the spiritual leader of al-Qaeda in Europe, and the spiritual leader of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA), the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), and the Tunisian Combat Group.[7]

The Middle East Media Research Institute claimed that, in 1997, Abu Qatada called upon Muslims to kill the wives and children of Egyptian police and army officers.[8]

Abu Qatada is reported by the British press[9][10] to have been a preacher or advisor to al-Qaeda terrorists Zacarias Moussaoui and Richard Reid.

When questioned in the UK in February 2001, Abu Qatada was in possession of £170,000 cash, including £805 in an envelope labelled "For the Mujahedin in Chechnya".[9]

Nineteen audio cassettes of Abu Qatada's sermons were found in the apartment of Mohamed Atta when it was searched after the September 11, 2001 attacks, which Atta led.[11]
Yet somehow this evil little medieval scrote will once again be out on bail in a couple days, despite him breaching his conditions last time.

How the hell the British government have not managed to convict this guy(or even try ffs) or at the very least hand him over to someone who will is utterly dumbfounding and a bloody embarrassment.

I don't even agree with Gitmo, but surely if there was ever someone who needed fitting for an orange jumpsuit and a booking at the CIA spa it's this guy?

he should have been deported, and if he gets his fingers cut off and if tortured then so be it. he had it coming.

people like his should have any human rights removed.

Re: What to do with Abu?

Horrible, evil man? Yep, no argument. Probably should be in jail somewhere? Yep, again, no argument. The problem is that so far as I am aware, there's been no charges brought against him here, and we don't detain people indefinitely without charge or trial. Personally, I'm happier that we don't; we've all seen what happens when measures brought in to combat the ebil terrirismists suddenly turn out to be applicable to all sorts of things (copyright infringement, for instance). Deportation would be fine as far as I am concerned, if we could be sure that he won't be tortured and other people won't be tortured to provide the "evidence" against him - bear in mind, his existing convictions in Jordan were obtained by torturing other people into testifying against him, and I don't think that bodes well. I don't believe it's any excuse to say that it's not us doing it if we knowingly hand someone over to a government that will torture them, and while I accept that this guy is evil we're supposed to not be.

    'Meh'.

Just bug him, keep survalance on him, he would be like a safety valve with all the stupid extremists flocking towards him, making it easier to tag them.

He should be forced into taking up 'hill walking' as a hobby.

This case is a classic example of why I'm sure a lot of people are glad it's not me making the decision .... and probably also why a lot wish I were.

Were it me, he'd have been on a plane to Jordan long ago, and if the European court doesn't like it, well I have a gesture as an appropriate response to that too, and it's the type of gesture likely to start a fight in many pubs.

Re: What to do with Abu?

The way they where talking on the radio it wasnt for fear of him being tortured but the fact that some of the evidence against him back in jordan was gained through torture.

Just take him on an apology sailing trip, about 15miles out just to be safe, then its not your fault of you "unfortunately" get hijacked by Jordanians whilst in international waters...

The Mirror reports it will cost 40 million to keep him, if this is true, we really need to stop this stupidity, it would be far cheaper likely to let the muslim bomb something or end it with just a bullet.
