Until the Hittite nation was discovered several years ago, people claimed that that was "scientific" proof that the Bible was wrong, as it mentioned them. Chances are, everything in the Bible will one day be explainable by science (On a somewhat different tangent - the fire and brimstone from the sky that destroyed Sodom and Gommorah: a volcano fits that description. Getting turned into a pillar of salt is slightly more difficult. :) )
