    Aerocool Hard Dock 3-in-1

Having recently asked if anyone else had heard or seen of this product I purchased it for my three HD raid device.

The speed of delivery from the coolingshop was fantastic, but the description is what I would call 'cheeky'.

After removing the outer packaging and feeling the weight, I would say this device was made of aluminum. The finish is very rough - and oddly enough I had a random piece of sticky rubber fall out the moment I got it out of its box. It does come with six screws for fixing it to the 5.25" bay.

My biggest gripe is that I bought this to be a three hard disk holding module. I was a little concerned that the airflow for three HDs would be restrictive in such a small caddy, but I believed there might be some funky features not described.

No, not at all. To be honest this is a piece of aluminium tubing with a fan mounted at one end. The description on the box even says 'Such installation ...[of three HD's]... may hinder the air flow and therefore reduce the performance of this product. Aerocool does not suggest the user for such installation. User may perform such installtion at his or her own risks." (yes, the spellong is intentional)

So, I have a useless piece of aluminium junk. Especially since my new PC which was quoted to have three 5.25" bays doesn't.

So on practical purposes, 1 out of 5, description purposes 0 of 5 (on coolingshops description.

    A definate no-buy.

Yar, seems a good plan (I've already emailed them so in continuation!)

The staff are friendly and know their stuff - didn't get any bad vibes for purchasing something and then returning it.

Not entirely sure where I stand with my "free shipping" though! I will probably get charged for a restock fee - though this worries me little.

afaik under the dsr it is illegal to charge a restocking fee. Although you will have to pay postage for the return as it isnt faulty per say

    hey all,

    i just have 2 HD's for my raid 0
(*pfsh* backups for people who care about their data ),
and they seem to run hot easily.

was thinking of getting the aerocool 3-1, would it just be suitable for 2 HD's?
[seeing as you can't fit 3 - that must be false advertising btw, 3-1 hard dock is what it says on the tin]

    cheers,
    Craig
