help with htpc build. which route should i take?

hello im in the process of getting parts for a htpc and my original plan was just to make a small itx htpc with a small ssd drive for os and maybe a blue ray drive and then build a nas server to stream all my movies to it.

but now im think i might get a Silverstone GD06B Grandia Micro-ATX Case and then put a amd llano cpu, fm1 motherboard and all the other bits and then just put in a couple of 2tb harddrives and a ssd for o/s.

so should i stick with the nas setup or go with my 2nd plan thanks for any input you can give

I am building my own itx htpc right now (will post more over next 48 hours), and have a NAS. I would say that having the 2 separate does seem to give more flexibility, but a downside would be greater power use overall

Couple of hard drives (and possibly fan on the llano, depending what cooler you go for) might be a bit noisy depending on positioning and your tolerance.

I'm looking round for NAS boxes too. I'm currently considering freenas on an ITX build with a couple of laptop sata drives to keep power use down. That is the one killer of NAS boxes - they're on all the time. Contemplating finding some kind of remote control power strip that activates if either the main PC or HTPC is on, then shuts down after. So far, not found anything that clever.
