Hey guys, im hoping to undertake my first pc build within the next few weeks and would appreciate any help that people can offer.
The computer is going to be used primarily for gaming, on such titles as WoW, Diablo 3, Starcraft II, then possibly BF3 / Shogun 2 (i know, completely either end of the spectrum in GPU required lol). Also intend to possibly attempt some video editing / streaming if possible. My budget for the computer is around £1,100 - £1,300 (including a monitor). I already have a mouse/keyboard etc, and can upgrade those in the future easily enough.
I have spent countless hours researching reviews and gathering prices, and have come up with the following:
Case: Corsair Obsidian 550d £110
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 Gen 3 £96
CPU: I5 2500k (Overclocked to 4.2/4.3 Ghz) £167
Cooler: Gelid Tranquillo Rev 2 £25
GPU: 1280MB EVGA GTX 560 Ti Classified £210
Ram: 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP 1600 Mhz £40
Optical Drive: Samsung Writemaster £15
SSD: 128GB Cruical M4 £125
HDD: 500GB WD Green,3.5" HDD,SATA III - 6Gb/s £63
PSU: be quiet! Straight Power E9 680W CM PSU £98
Software: Windows 7 Home Premium £72
Total £1,021
Monitor: Asus VG236HE (no glasses/controll unit) £225
Grand Total £1,246
With the above build, as mentioned i will be overclocking the CPU to 4.2 or 4.3 Ghz. I may even attempt to overclock the ram/GPU if i'm feeling brave. I have selected the Mobo / PSU to have extra headway incase i decide to go SLI as an upgrade in the future. Will the PSU supply enough power ok?
One question i would love an answer to... Will all necessary cables come with the components, or do i need to buy certain cables of my own? (On that front, what is a generic internet cable called, to go from my BT Infinity Hub/Rotuer to the pc? so many on scan that its confusing lol).
I would love to hear any suggestions for alterations that could be made for the build (cheaper, just as good components, or possibly ones that are better but not too much more expensive)?
Finally, thanks in advance for any help and apologies for the wall of text!
Cheers,
Terry
