This is my first build, as im starting from scratch cost-effective future upgrade-ability/future proofing is essential.
Will be used for a gaming rig, general use & media streaming/playback etc (but no rendering etc).

So here's where ive got so far:

CPU: i5-3570k
Mobo: Asus P8Z77-v
Ram: 8GB 1600mhz Kingston HyperX
Case: Corsair Carbide 300R
PSU: Be Quiet! 730w Modular
GPU: AMD HD 6870
CPU cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo
Thermal Paste: Arctic MX4
Storage: 500GB Seagate Momentus XT

All the parts were chosen because they are the most cost effective option for that spec. All the above comes in at a little under £650, I could afford about £750.

There are a few options i'm also looking at:
CPU - ive been looking at the 2500k, 2600k, 2700k & 3770k.
Case - Fractal Core 3000 is also an option, not sure how the cases compare.
PSU - The Be Quiet above is £70, other options are Novatech PowerStation Black Edition 750W modular (£65), or OCZ ZS 750w (£60). Min requirements are 80+, a good brand is prefered so is modular.
GPU - I chose the HD 6870 simply because I found a great deal on this one. but i don't mind spending a bit more on something like an 7850. Good/v.good performance at 1920x1080 for current games is all I require. Will probs crossfire in the future..
Storage - Hybrid chosen is just to get me started (+ its a bargin at £65). Will probs upgrade to SSD/HDD combo later.
But im considering going with a Samsung 830, but im not 100% sure what performance boost it will give.

Any advice, suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks
Sam
