Os wise i havent decided, i have an unused xp licence here but obviously its getting a bit long in the tooth. Im might pop some flavour of linux on there, im using peppermintos and it seems pretty stable.

TBH,I would try and increase the budget to around £270 to £280 so you can get a reasonable quality PSU. The cheapo ones are more likely to cause problems in the long run and are very inefficient.

    Edit!!

A cheap laptop would probably be fine too I suspect.

    Re: Budget System - £200 / £250

I'd probably go with something similar to the above spec but would recommend swapping the case/PSU combo for this:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/artix...r-case-w-o-psu - £11.98 Inc VAT (cheapest you can get with the PSU expense)
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/350w-...et-fan-atx-psu - £34.02 Inc VAT (80+ certified and in stock)

I'd probably go cheaper on the monitor OR peripherals (like your keyboard/mouse combo!) to do that, but it might be about £2-3 over your budget depending. I would personally rather go a bit over and have a better PSU than not, but it's your call.
    http://www.ebuyer.com/350577-lg-e194...itor-e1942c-bn - £59.99 Inc VAT.

The build uses parts from Scan and Ebuyer. Using free postage from both retailers, means the build should come to around £264. The case uses a bottom mounted PSU and the PSU is reasonable quality. The A4-5300 also has a decent IGP,which will be useful for media playback and both UI and software acceleration in the future.
