First time build for brother in law

Ok I'm new to this and my brother in law wants a gaming rig so this is what I've come up with so far

    I7 3770 K
    NZXT phantom enthusiast full case
    PSU hale 82 650W
    gigabyte Z77X UD3H
    corsair 1600Mhz 8gb kit
    samsung 24x sata writer DVD
    gigabyte GTX670 windforce 2gb/ultra durable
    2Tb HDD probably WD

Trying to keep it under £1000 if possible. Would I be better off going for crucial memory or would it make no difference. Any help gratefully received.

I'd save on the CPU and try and sneak an SSD in there, at least a cheap 128GB model if not better.
You can get a Gigabyte 7970 for the same price as a 670 and it will be faster.

This. You should be able to get hold of a 128gb SSD, and you won't really notice the difference between the 3570k and the 3770k unless you do loads of video editing.

Also get a different PSU, the one you picked is fine, but there are better models available.

    Cheaper and gold rated.

And you'll want a CPU cooler if you are getting an unlocked CPU:

    Cheap, effective and quiet.

Re: First time build for brother in law

Thanks for all the advice - graphic card wise he wants to go for nvidia but the psu and cooler sound a good idea. Think his plan is to add an SDD in the future anyway. Sounds like we're in the right ball park though.

Thanks again for all the help.
