I've just put together my first build, all looks good but every time I boot up I'm met with the following:I know what your thinking, you've got a right ripe one here But the truth is Windows 7 is happy enough to boot from my external DVD drive, that I use very infrequently, it's just that BIOS can't except the logic of this, I could be wrong?REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SELECTED BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS A KEY
I get the republic of gamers splash screen Samsung 830 detected
Q-Code LEDs read AE for Legacy boot event
A LED for (boot device problem) on the board only lights up when I'm in BIOS, perhaps relevant?
In BIOS:
Advanced-SATA Configuration
SATA MODE SELECTED AHCI
BOOT OPTION #1 SAMSUNG 830,
my Samsung 830 SSD is currently in a serial ATA 6.0 Gb/s connector, I'm able to boot Windows 7 and install it from my external DVD drive, I just don't know if I should?
I have connected my Samsung 830 SSD to a spare PC with a USB cable, and it looks good latest firmware update no errors.
I've re-connected everything I could think, of I'm left with my above conclusion that BIOS can't except that I don't have a DVD drive.
For me a optical drive is just an extra power consuming and at times noisy expense I could do without, as I download all my content.
I do have a ancient DVD ROM I would connect to it but, it's got an IDE connector that's something my motherboard doesn't support.
My build:
Silverstone SST-FT02B-W/Asus Maximus V Gene/ Intel core i5-3570k/ Corsair Memory Vengeance LP 8GB, Dark rock pro 2/ EVGA GTX 670 FTW/ Antec high current pro 750w/ Samsung SSD 830 256gb/ Win 7.
