    New Build advice please

I'm building a new high-end gaming rig and considering running 2 GTX 680 4GB in SLI. I'm pretty new to self builds but thought I'd have a play.

Any advice for which version of the 680 4GB I should go for? Been eyeing up the KFA2s (which I believe are just rebranded Galaxys).

Pretty much says it all in the title. I'm pretty new to self builds but have been digging around trying to get as much info as I can.

Got about £2000 - £2500 to spend on it (preferably on the lower end of that) and want it to pull its weight for at least 4 years with no further upgrades needed. I'm using a single 23" 1920x1080 3D capable monitor but will potentially add 2 more in the near future. Not planning on doing any crazy overclocks at the moment but will likely dabble when the system starts to show its age. I also work in video production so may need to run CS6 every once in a while.

My planned set up is as follows:

    Case: NZXT Switch 810
Case Fans: 6 x NZXT FX-140LB (in addition to the 4 included with the case)
    Fan Controller: NZXT Sentry LX
    CPU: i7 3930k
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X60 (In top of case with push pull set up)
Mobo: ASUS Rampage IV Formula/BF3 Edition
    GPU: 2 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 680 4GB
PSU: PCPower Cooling Silencer MKII 950W
RAM: (Still undecided probably will get 16GB of DDR3 1600 (4 x 4GB) - Ripjaws, HyperX or Dominator Platinums...)
    OS: Windows 7 64bit OEM

    Thanks!

I also work in video production so may need to run CS6 every once in a while.

    Cheers!

Also is there any major difference between the Formula and the Formula/BF3 Edition or does it just come bundled with the game?

    Thanks!

Put all these components through a calculator and the required wattage seemed to fit. Just wanted to double check I'd have enough juice if I bought the PCPower Silencer MKII 950W...

Also anyone know if the Silencer MKII 950W is any good? Can only find a couple of reviews...

Thinking of getting 2 HDDs for my new build. One will be used for gaming and the odd bit of video editing and the other for back ups. Will have a SSD as the boot drive. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Re: Am I Better Buying Caviar Blacks or Velociraptors?

Not sure velociraptors have much of a need these days. If you want fast, get an SSD. If you want bulk storage, get a big HDD. If you want both, get one of each and store your big video files or whatever they are on the HDD.

If you want to back stuff up I would suggest an external drive, possibly a NAS. In the unlikely event something goes bang in the machine, you could lose both drives at the same time.

    Re: New Build advice please

Cool, I have an external 2TB USB3 drive that I can set a back up in that case. Thanks for the advice!
