New Gaming Build - £1300 Budget

Hi All, I've been asked to build a gaming PC for a mate's son and I'm not current with whats hot or not.

So can peeps spec me a build on the budget above including case & monitor but not O/S. Not to bothered about looks re case, more about quality, value & function.

I'm thinking 23"/24" monitor, core i5 2500k, not bothered whether AMD or Nvidia graphics, SSD for O/S, etc, etc.

    Cheers

    J

Re: New Gaming Build - £1300 Budget

Ok so I'll kick things off as I've got no replies so far.

    Intel Core i5 3570K Combo
    LN42857 2TB Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200.14 SATA 3 6GB/s 7200rpm
    LN39754 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Jet Black Low Profile, PC3-12800 (1600)
    LN43806 Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H, USB 3.0 Intel Z77, S 1155, DDR3, SATA III
    LN42829 Intel Core i5 3570K,1155, Ivy Bridge, Quad Core, 3.4GH £359.99

    LN41931 Fractal Design Define R3 £65.98

LN48714 600W Corsair CXM Builder series, Hybrid Modular £59.52

    LN44087 120GB SanDisk Extreme, 2.5" SSD, SATA III £81.74

    LN48913 2GB ScanFX Radeon HD 7870 Black Edition, £185.74

    LN42081 23" AOC I2353FH IPS Widescreen Monitor, £129.88

    LN29161 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit SP1 - OEM £70.56

    Total = £953.41

So question is any glaring omisions or suggestions for better parts whist staying within budget (i.e.trying to keep under £1300 and more under the better whilst keeping it performance orientated)???

IPS monitor is a must these days.. Id probablys push for a 27 inch version with the higher native rez. they do look lush and possibly CPU wise id push upto an I7, still gotta a lotta love for my I7 920 2.66GHZ running at 4GHZ on air cooling for 2 years.
