I would spend the extra to get usb3 so if you need it at a later date you have it.

I've pretty much ordered mot of the parts. Just about to order the hard drive.

I was wondering why you chose the slower [ I assume due to 32mb cache] seagate over the one in the link below:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-ST10...31&s=computers.

    Thanks in advance.

Went into maplins for a browse. Saw the zalman z11 plus, looks a solid build.

The Zalman z11 is about 45 quid and plus version about 50 on amazon

I think I'll probs go for one of the Zalmans but thought Id see what you guys think.

    1. Is the zalman worth the extra £££
    2. If yes ,hould I go for the standard z11 or plus version AFAIK the only diff is usb 3 a the front.
The plus uses a cable to connect to the front usb 3 ports to the rear of the motherboard and not in the middle. So I'd get the standard one and a front panel off amazon.

My cousin used the Z11 for his build, and we're pretty impressed. However, some of the fans use a molex connector, and installing optical drives can be a bit fiddly. Otherwise it's all good.

Re: £300 to spend on CPU/ GPU

I have an unused Phenom II stock fan with a copper base/heatpipes and a larger heatsink than the stock fx6300.Would I be better off using it instead?

Yes as a stop gap until you can buy a better cooling unless your not going to overclock.
