Potential new Haswell i7 4770k build

    Hi all,

I'm currently planning an upgrade on my pc rig.

    I currently have:

    antec 300 case
    i7 920 running at 3.3ghz
    967 akasa cooler
    6gb g skill black ed 1600mhz ram
    480gb vertex 4 SSD
msi twin frozr 470 1.2gb graphics
    800w ocz psu
    Asrock x58 deluxe MB

I built it myself and it was about £900. I've specced out a rig that I would like, and I cannot find any direct comparisons for an overclocked 920 vs a stock i7 4770k

    What I have specced:

    carbide 300r case
    i7 4770k
    antec kuhler h20 v2
    8gb corsair xms 1600mhz ram
    the same ssd as above
msi twin frozr 770 4gb (when released)
    750w corsair enthusiast psu
To be decided z87 MB under £100.00.

The new rig would set me back about £1120, but I'm wondering would it actually give me a leap in performance?

Sure the graphics would be vastly superior, but how about processor and SSD access speed etc?

Any advice on this greatly received.

    Thanks

Looks good to me, you don't need a 750W power supply though. 550W would be plenty.

even with a gtx 770? arent they quite power hungry?

I must also point out that I would be most likely to overclock.

Nah, you'll be fine, you are looking at about 275W MAX at stock speeds, you still have plenty of headroom for overclocking while remaining within the peak efficiency range.

For a single gpu the 770 si recommended at 550 and sli I think is 750. I opted for a corsair gs800 to be on the safe side if I add a second 770. Wasn't aware msi were doing a 4gig version though, may look into that.
