Are you planning to use multiple graphics cards at some point (crossfire or SLI)? You might save a few pounds by going for a mATX rather than an ATX mobo. My first port of call is usually Asus mobos, but there are plenty of 'top tier' options at about your price range:

sorry not trying to steal this thread. but just a quick question about matx boards which will be useful for the guy who posted as well - are there any other downsides to them in comparison to atx boards? or is it just that they have less space? i think i've only ever used atx in my personal computers..

Yes the only downside is space, number of expansion cards that can be used.
The gap between cards in SLI can be a factor, although many cards will work perfectly well next to each other.

But be careful to check the specs of models with similar names, they may not be identical between ATX and mATX versions.

i see. thanks for the info i may consider one in a future build. i am ott with giving things room to breathe. i have a server case for my gaming pc. takes up so much room lol.. but i don't often end up with a dual gpu config, even though i always plan for it..

Yeah I know what you mean, but it's certainly not a deal breaker, especially with cards becoming more and more power efficient.

    Same specs but much cheaper:

Or you like blue Gskill modules get these:

Faster speeds, lower profile and £10 less.

Or two of these for less with slightly better timings and LEDs!

Well as the recent Hexus review showed it never makes a huge difference, I just saw the price on partpicker and thought it was too much.

£53 is better but there are of course cheaper

the hd 7850 is a great card for the money, even better when you overclock it. I run bf3 60+fps all maxed out apart from the AA which i set to fxaa
