Re: Just going through my Amd build one more time...

Thanks Dances All of my other rigs over the years, i've never overclocked at all. Lots of reasons probably poor motherboards aswell! But i had an intel before (pentium 775) My first rig was with an athlon 64 about 10 years ago, i could have probably done that, but i never tried and im sure my mobo was bad... very bad

On a side note, i was reading a thread/post somewhere, where someone went to change the stock 8320/50 cooler and pulled out the cpu! Destroying the locking mechanism! Kinda freaked me out as i would have to remove it, do you think i should try to grab an aftermarket cooler before i attempt to construct this monster? Tbh ill probably run at stock for a while as i dont think i would need to oc straight away (and lots of reading ) The stock cooler under load i was surprised just how loud it could get!

Re: Just going through my Amd build one more time...

Hey CAT-THE-FIFTH! Ahh damn! Well i ordered my parts 2 days ago and arrived yesterday! I got the 8320 for £105.99 of Amazon, but i missed out on the bf4 edition 270! The reason at the time was the card was £128 (without bf4) my thinking was the bf4 edition was £10 more and i've seen alot of those bf4 keys for about a £10'er so thought i'd grab it like that... until i saw your new link! Dammnit oh well, im sure it will be fine! Thanks for your help though bud

Could i also ask like up above, how awkward is it to remove the stock 8320/50 heatsink after use? I saw a video and it looked pretty stuck on (lots of wiggling) and even read someone ripping the cpu out with it and fubar'ing his mobo! It's petrified me! I'm tempted to order an aftermarket cooler before i install, or should i install it with the stock and stop being paranoid/petrified?

    such as...

I have never had a problem, and lost count of how many heatsinks I removed including the standard AMD FX ones.

The two surfaces are quite flat so you don't just pull them apart. Wriggling until the two plates peel apart is the way to go.

Re: Just going through my Amd build one more time...

    EDIT!

i did it! it just took a little bit of force, i feel silly...

    EDIT!!

Now we have Powah, and im looking at the bios... forgot the clocks went forward tonight...

EDIT! i deleted my inane confusion, and left only a few lines I have constructed the rig, and am now typing on it! It's only 7.30 am! Took a little longer than expected

I do have some questions about this 8.1 stuff and drivers though, will probably post tomorrow or later on. It seems to have installed drivers... a bit confused currently. The motherboard didn't have a seal/tape, and there were fingerprints on the Cmos battery I tried it though and it works so far though. Might contact Amazon to let them know, and if anything goes wrong i'll talk to them straight away. Not sure. There was also a tiny mark on the mobo that i noticed, but it works so far...

So thanks for the part advice, this is then end result:

8320 (with stock cooling), M5A97 Evo, 2x4gb Kingston ram@1600 (i had a look at Crucial but ended up with the kingston), Gigabyte 270 , 1tb drive, Seasonic 520 (that was £52, not bad price)

So thanks for helping guys i appreciate it! I spent so much time reading and researching i finally built this thing so far! I was switching my ideas so far about it was crazy!

    Right i'm logging out!!!
