Re: A little small upgrade !!

The MSI does look a nice board.

If your going to spend £65 on ram but some faster stuff like

    http://www.ebuyer.com/386397-g-skill...-2400c10d-8gtx

Much more freedom with your overclock than 1866 stuff.

Also look at the nzxt hale 90 series for around £44 + p&p (550 watts)

Looking at your rig the items you have chosen are going to give you very little upgrade over what you have. More of a sideways move even the 2400 ram wont make any noticable difference over the 1600 you already have in 90% of things. Unless you have stuff breaking I would stay with what you have or buy a

    http://www.ebuyer.com/393527-asus-m5...5a99x-evo-r2-0

    or

    http://www.ebuyer.com/393530-asus-sa...oth-990fx-r2-0

    and stick a

    http://www.ebuyer.com/409184-amd-fx-...-fd8350frhkbox

in it. That will be an upgrade depending upon what you do with your rig.

Is this to upgrade the FX6300 machine in your profile?

My youngest boy will have my old profile board, ram PSU so i thought getting me those bits would be ideal I only do basic overclocking as it scare's the hell out me in case i do damage ..
So those bits seemed nice ... I have been tempted to go the intel route but as i got a third FX6300 i might as well keep it in the family

Re: A little small upgrade !!

£300 should be enough for an FX8350, they are a bargain atm at £119

My favourite motherboard is still http://www.amazon.co.uk/M5A97-EVO-R2.../dp/B008RPZ5H8 at £69

Any old RAM, clicked on something that looked like an OK price http://www.amazon.co.uk/G-Skill-Ripj.../dp/B0050119O0 £59

That leaves £53 for a PSU, should be possible. I quite liked the Novatech one I got a while back which was a 400W version of this: http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c...ov-psg601.html

Re: A little small upgrade !!

the NZXT hale 90 550 watt is £44 + postage from overclockers as long as you have a standard atx size case or the SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W for £47 + p&p.

Dont forget a proper cooler as the stock one is adequate but noisy.

@Dances he has a 7950 to drive as well.
