    Talking First time :)

So guys this is my first time building one and still i'm saving up money for this till december so i can catch up to my supposed budget so here are the specs

    MOBO: am3+ Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 AMD 6,320php (£ 88.86 )
    CPU: AMD FX 8320 3.5ghz (Black Edition) 7410php ( £ 104.19 )
    GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X Boost 3gb/384bit, OC Ed 13,000php ( £ 182.78 )
    RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum (Dual) 2x4gb ddr3 1866 CL9 6935php ( £ 97.51 )
    PSU: Corsair TX 650watts (TX650 v2) 80Plus Bronze 4560php ( £ 64.11 )
    HDD: Seagate Video 1tb 64mb 5900rpm sata 3120php ( £ 43.87 )
    CASING: NZXT Phantom 410 4830php ( £ 67.91 )
    TOTAL COST : 46,175php ( £ 649.23)

This is the build I want, but if I don't reach my supposed budget for this build, I will be replacing my RAM with Kingston Hyper X Fury 4gb ddr3 1600 (2) and my PSU with Aerocool (Strike X) 500watts 80Plus Bronze and lastly my casing with Aerocool GT Advance USB 3.0 so I could get cheaper prices, that's all what do you guys think? Thank you in Advance Filipino here

    Re: First time :)

I don't particularly think he could afford an ssd if he says he might have to drop budget, because he would have to sacrifice other parts in order to have faster boot up, which isn't really worth it.
I mean it seems fairly balanced, the gfx card being the best part, which is always nice for gaming.
Not a huge fan of AMD cpu's, it must be said.

Looks good mate. But swap that Hdd for a 7200rpm one (that also has a big cache - 32MB+). It will make a big difference! Or if you can push it even more, get an ssd to run the operating system, commonly used programs, and a couple games on. Then also get a 7200rpm Hdd for everything else.

It might be worth considering the FX8320E if you are overclocking.

    Re: First time :)

You'll seriously struggle to get a better CPU than that for the money from Intel, and you'd most likely be looking at a dual core which can lead to performance issues in some games.

A ~500W PSU would be plenty for that build, provided you don't want to run multiple GPUs for instance. Even then it might be OK, but would depend on the GPUs used. I'm not sure what that Aerocool PSU is like though, and I can't find many decent reviews. I'd suggest going with a more reputable brand as it's a bit of an unknown.

You likely won't see much difference in faster RAM either way; if you'd save a decent amount of money going for the 1600 stuff, I'd go with that instead. If they're roughly the same price however then of course there's no harm going for the faster stuff.

I second ZaO's suggestion of going with a 7200rpm drive, and the difference in cost should be fairly marginal.

If you're not planning on overclocking, you could save some money by going for a cheaper motherboard.

    Welcome to Hexus!

Do you really need a 990FX motherboard?

My usual recommendation is this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/M5A97-EVO-R2.../dp/B008RPZ5H8

That saves you £20, enough to upgrade to FX8350, or save the build if you are £20 short

Do you really need 1TB of hard drive? My last purchase was http://www.amazon.co.uk/500GB-inch-S.../dp/B00DSUTWMQ

which is not only faster, comes with a 5 year warranty and thanks to being a laptop drive is very quiet. Cheaper too.

If you do need 1TB, then WD Blue desktop drives are OK http://www.amazon.co.uk/1TB-inch-Int.../dp/B0088PUEPK

Wouldn't be the new FX8320E a needlessly expensive suggestion over the previous FX CPUs(FX8320 & FX8350)? ( http://translate.googleusercontent.c...YSowmd62RJId5w). Apparently they don't offer much. Also, are them available yet?

EDIT: If he is going for a faster drive, might stretch a little and go for an SSHD?

Yes there is a big difference, the main one for me being how the CPU power regulator (VRM) is built.

Look for a motherboard that can take a 140W CPU. Manufacturers have a compatibility chart for each of their motherboards that say what processors it will take if they don't make it obvious. Some of the 125W motherboards are not compatible with the 125W 8 core cpus, you need a well built one and if you want the machine to last I think having one where the VRM doesn't struggle to keep up is good.

Gigabyte make some decent boards, see if you can find one of those at a decent price with a 970 chipset.

    Re: First time :)

You should be able to get a decent and big enough SSD fairly cheaply - I picked up a Samsung 120GB 840 Evo for £46 plus VAT from CCL, for example.
