    Really big fans that don't spin very fast, and careful choice of hard drive or just stick with ssd.

    One of the reasons I chose the ASUS motherboard I linked above is that the Gigabyte one I had before seemed way too eager to spin the fans up to stupidly high speeds for no reason. This one is much quieter.

    Also a big fan of the Silverstone SFX power supplies, they are small and quiet but come with an adapter plate to go in an ATX case if needed, and the fan doesn't spin unless needed.

    I need to update my 775 thread.

    If you are wondering, the 771 mod is now working perfectly. My problems were down to poorly seated RAM and/or a dusty RAM slot so there is potential for a real bargain there.
