    Advise me, please!

    Hello there.

I`m looking to upgrade my old PC to a slightly better one.
So this is the build I've made up (a budget build..).

    Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz Socket 1151 BOX
    Motherboard: Gigabyte H110M-S2H Socket 1151
PSU:Modular Sirtec High Power Element Smart EP-750S 750W
    Case: Zalman Z3 Plus Black
    Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 2400MHz CL14 Black

Please let me know what you think, if the pieces go together or what should I change there. The total price in euros is 400.
As for video card I have my Nvidia GTX 560 TI that I want to keep.

    Thank you!

What's it's job? A Skylake i5, 750W PSU and "budget" in the same sentence screams gaming to me but then you want to keep the 560Ti....

    Re: Advise me, please!

Well.. I`d like to be able to play the latest games, but am not interested in doing this at max details. So it's job would be something like a little bit of everything. I am hoping to upgrade the video card in the future though.
As for the PSU, I don't really know what to look for; but that 750w was at the same price as a 500w one, that`s why it's in the list.

    Re: Advise me, please!

That i5 is poor value, it costs quite a lot yet eg is beaten in Doom by my old AMD FX 8350.

I would choose either a proper budget part (i3) or spend a little more on a higher clocked i5.

I expect you could take money from the 750W psu, unless there is some special reason you want it (it does happen, I have a 650W psu because it is quiet nothing to do with needing 650W).

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. If it's a different range or brand then there's a good chance that 750W model is lower quality than the 500W one.

A non-overclocked PC with a 560ti level card will draw less than 250W so you certainly don't need the capacity unless you want to add a pair of 390Xs. 500W will also be more efficient as power supplies can lose a lot of their efficiency when you're using less than 5-10% of their capacity (the average gaming PC is 30-40W when browsing the web and similar activities).

Ok, so if I were to get an i5, which would you recommend?

Yeah, I guess I don't need 750w, altough the price is pretty close to a 500w one. I'll keep trying to find a suitable PSU.

    Re: Advise me, please!

I would go with an i3 6100 CPU. There's quite a good article about the CPU here - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...i3-6100-review

It may also be worth looking into Skylake motherboards that can overclock the non-K CPUs, for example the ASRock Hyper Series:
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/asrock...ews-52551.html

As others have said, you can drop the PSU down to the 500w level and will still have headroom for upgrades.
    Main - Intel Core i5 2300 @ 3.5GHz, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM, Asus P8P67 Pro, Coolermaster iGreen 600w, GTX 480, Antec One Case

    Re: Advise me, please!

Yeah,I would second getting a Core i3 6100 for now. Both Polaris 10 and 11 should be launching in the next few weeks too,so AMD should have its new node budget GPUs out sooner than Nvidia.

What country are you purchasing the parts in OP,so we can try and look at some local pricing for you??

    Re: Advise me, please!

That i3-6100 was actually my first choice, but then I thought I should get something higher since I don't plan on upgrading my pc again in the next 5 years. (Now I have a core 2 duo e7500 and I have this for many years now..).
But ok, if I get the i3-6100 what motherboard and psu would you recommend for it?

I'll be purchasing the parts in Romania. (emag.ro , or mediadot.ro), but I can also get them on ebay.de or even co.uk if the shipping is free.

I would hold off until more is known about AM4 and Bristol Ridge.
