If you aren't gaming, why the 1050ti?

    Re: My budget build

I would ditch the GTX1050TI and get a secondhand Core i5 6000 series CPU from CEX.

Emulation, *maybe* 1 or 2 games in the future. Wouldnt the 1050Ti help with video editing?

Most budget video editing programs make little to no use of a GPU. It'll help if you're using Premiere CC, but that seems unlikely with a budget build.

I'd personally go for a MicroATX or ATX case if you're going for a big case like that. Coolcube Maxi or similar:

I wouldn't go for a 2.5" hard drive. 3.5" ones are better all round.

Everthing is bought except gpu and storage. Will be using premiere or vegas.

Why is the 3.5" drive better?

    Re: My budget build

The CPU is weak for video editing - its only a dual core with HT and even lacks AVX2.

    I would have gotten a Core i5 6400 for £120 off CEX:

    https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku...A#.WLX-wPmLSbg

Then I would have bought a £10 to £15 cooler.

Sony Vegas can use a graphics card, but uses OpenCL which runs better on AMD cards,so if you already have the CPU,I would get an RX460.

    Edit!!

PP might still use CUDA,but if that is the case, both programmes are a bit opposed in GPU support.

I have not seen any more recent comparisons, but the HD7970 is a few years older than a GTX980TI.

    Second Edit!!

This is why I suggested a Core i5 6400 as the Intel IGP might be sufficient to speed things up a bit.

    Re: My budget build

Thanks. When I built my cousin his PC, I bought a i5 6400 (from another forum) on his behalf for £80 which he is yet to pay me back! I wanted to keep it since lol. He's got a 1060 build. Will he see a decrease in performance in gaming if I gave him the G4560?

It depends on the game - some games need 4 cores, others will be perfectly fine with a G4560.

This review compares the G4560 and the Core i5 6500 using a Titan X:

With a GTX1060 your cousin will be more GPU limited but some games tend to like more cores.

However, for video editing that Core i5 6400 will be faster overall.
