    Refresh of a Refresh to a Ryzen build

    So last year I started out with the following:
    Case = 8yr old Lian-Li A70
    Psu = be-quiet 650W Dark Power P8 (2011?)
    Asus Sabertooth FX990 r2.0
    CPU = FX8320E
    EK Supremacy top
    GPU = AMD R9 290
    EK R9 290X DIRECTCU II top
    RAM = GSkill TridentX F3 16Gb 1600 CL7
    RAID IBM M5016
    4 x Samsung 840 Evo 120GB in RAID 0

    Dual DDC 18W under EK Dual DDC V2 with EK 250 Res V2
    XSPX RX 360 & 240 radiators
    11 x Noiseblocker PL2 fans

    then in November I had an upgrade fit so

    Ditched the following:
    Asus Sabertooth FX990 r2.0
    IBM M5016 RAID
    4 x Samsung 840 Evo 120GB in RAID 0
    4 x Samsung 1TB F3 in RAID 10

    and replaced with
    Asus Sabertooth FX990 r3.0
    Samsung 950 PRO 500GB NVMe M.2 drive
    2 x Toshiba X300 4TB in RAID1

    All in all snappier booting (no RAID initialisation) and I got to turn off some RGB lights

    Now I am thinking that it is time to retire the AM3+ platform to a media server role and bring in some new bits
    Phanteks Enthoo Primo
    Asus Crosshair XI Hero
    R7 Ryzen 1700+
    G Skill TridentZ DDR4 3200 C14
    Keep the RADs but change the pumps to a D5 PWM hanging off the motherboard
    and wait for a Vega card to be released to replace the R9

    For some reason it struggles massively in synthetic benchmarks..
