Budget upgrade for a golden oldie

Hi, I run an old Asus p6T MB with an i7 920 processor and 12GB ram. Its been a solid workhorse since I first built it in 2009. I'm getting old and slower (the pc still does what I need) but I wonder if its time to upgrade my pc now or to wait until one of us finally breaks down. Any suggestions would be much appreciated - money is tight being a pensioner is not easy these days lol
    Thanks in advance

As with all things, what is your use case?

You don't mentioned gaming or a GPU in your message, so if that isn't a focus, there could be easy and affordable upgrades to be had.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Old is gold

My question would be how critical is it that you avoid some downtime without the computer? If you can cope for a few days and your PC still does what you need then it's better both for your wallet and the environment to keep it until it no longer does what you need.

Eventually windows 10 will stop being supported and then you'll need a new computer if you want to go to whatever version of windows is out by then, but that's a long way off yet (and there are alternatives to windows that might be worth consideration as and when).

The usual SSD suggestion? I imagine you may already have one.

Thanks all - just hit early 60's so no spring chicken, also having MS makes me feel very old at times. I play Elder Scrolls Online, do some photoshop design work when I can and an awful lot of web surfing from my wheelchair for my sins so not a heavy user. I have a 250gb ssd and several other harddrives in my Lian Li tower case (so heavy now I cannot move it to even clean it). Is it worth increasing the size of my primary SSD drive - I would also like a new case that would accomodate my SSD and 4 other drives that I could move lol.
