    changing drive letters

Just a small problem, a lot of my games (mainly steam) do not give me a choice of which drive to install on and default to C/ which I have my OS installed on and want to put all other programs and games on the D/ drive.
If I use the disk management tool to swap the letters of these two drives will all new programs default to the new C/ drive?.

    Re: changing drive letters

Are you suggesting that you should change the letter of your OS drive from C to D, and implying that Windows would continue to work after you've done that?

If so, in my experience, it doesn't quite pan out like that. It's more likely that everything will just break, and windows won't boot. Besides, if windows is installed on D:\, then that won't make a difference, because programs will install to %programfiles% which automatically points to wherever program files is on the PC, C: D: or even X:

Try typing it into a run command and you'll see what I mean.

    Re: changing drive letters

You install Steam to the HD you want the games to install to..

I have Steam installed on my 2nd SSD and they all install to that, works just fine for me.
