Non stop issues with my system since October

    Guys,

Sadly, my experience of a Scan 3XS system goes from bad to worse. The system I bought in October is still experiencing issues. First it was reboots and over clocking instability. Now, that Scan have replaced a lot of internals, Windows 7 crashes a lot and often doesn't boot up - it just hangs on the Windows 7 logo animation. I'm suspecting that it doesn't like the fact that some of the internals were replaced - to be honest I really hoped they would re-install everything.

Does anyone know if I can simply re-install everything from scratch with the correct drivers easily? Effectively, a system restore CD?

I'm at my wits end with this and I cannot understand how this is acceptable. I've spent 1600 pounds on a machine that is simply not fit for purpose. I appreciate a lot of people are happy with Scan, but all I've had is non-stop issues. I've barely installed anything at all on this machine and all I want is for it to boot up and be usable for more than an hour or so.

At the moment I feel like I'd get a better system from PC World and that is pretty bad. I'm biting my tongue as I really want to give Scan a chance, but it's not looking good.

    Thanks,

    Yao

ps.I'm really hoping this is a software issue and can be resolved easily.

    Hi Yao

We have just spoken on the phone and we will collect and look at the system here and resoftware it for you, install all the drivers and again thoroughly test

We are a bit bemused that the system has been crashing and unstable as we tested it on various tests for a week...

We will get to the bottom of the issue for you

    Regards

    Ben

    Thank-you Ben,

I didn't catch your name so had no idea this was you. Believe me, this isn't much fun for me either. £1600 is a lot of money for a few hours usage over 2 months.

As discussed, feel free to completely format and perform a fresh install on this box. I haven't done enough it with it to worry about configs or settings, etc.

Before you send it back, can you do some additional tests such as rebooting it a number of times, running a game possibly? These shouldn't add too much time to the process but should cover the recent issues and offer some sanity checks.

My hope is that I have a machine to play games on by Christmas.

    Regards,

    Yao

Re: Non stop issues with my system since October

I've now got my machine back from Scan with some slightly upgraded components. It's a fresh build as well.

It BSOD on me once last night, but I'm hoping that it's a one off. However, since I was never offered any backup facility on purchase I was wondering if anyone can recommend me a decent image backup solution before I start installing software.

    Thanks,

    Yao

I used to use Acronis True image but it has issues with some USB devices making it twice as slow as my now preferred solution of Paragon Drive Backup.

If you have windows 7 then you have backup software as part of the OS (backup and restore) and it is pretty decent.

Ive used the built in windows 7 backup utility to create an image after getting my pc just right, and it worked fine...Ive had to restore from the image a couple of times and it worked a treat.
