    New PC keeps turning off

    Hi,

I took delivery of my new PC today and I'm really having a problem with it. It keeps turning off suddenly. Everything will freeze and then it will turn off. Windows system log simply has "system unexpectedly shutdown". If I reboot and go to the CMOS setup utility (the bios screen), and look at the temperatures, it's sitting here idling at 88 degrees C. I think it's overheating.

It's the i5 overclocked to 4.5 system. Everything seems to be seated ok in the case. Can you please advise, as it's completely unusable at the moment and turns off after a minute or two of being on.

    Thanks,
    Nik

    Hi Nick,

Can you confirm if you have removed the internal packaging inside the system and email systemsupport@scan.co.uk with your invoice number and build number so we can check your system spec.

    Thanks

    Hi Sanjay.

I can tell you that I did indeed remove (carefully) all the packing material that was inside the case. With the email and the massive sign on the top of the box warning about it, I could hardly miss doing that!

I have emailed the address you supplied with my details and a description of the problem.

This is utterly heart-breaking. I've been waiting and saving for so long for a decent computer. I hope and trust that Scan will be able to get it working for me soon.

    Many thanks,
    Nik
