    Many months later and the boot failing issue has finally driven me mad!

    I thought I'd attempt to update the firmware on this wretched VERTEX3 myself and downloaded the OCZ Toolbox and notes. Big problem. The notes say:
    "These tools are specifically designed for the SATA controller to be in AHCI mode. Systems that do not have AHCI mode may experience errors with updating the firmware." I don't know what all that means but I believe my SATA is in RAID mode.

    Now what do I do?

    Did you not go down the route of sending back your SSD and getting Scan to clone it to a new drive for you? This is what you were discussing with Ben back in 2012.
