    BSOD and Shut Down issues.

    Hi Guys,

Ok, so August 2013 I had a PSU go on my new build which you guys quickly replaced with no issue.

I have had a couple of BSOD's when playing Star Wars. Would you be able to tell what is causing them? I use Bluescreenview and it says its a Hal.dll and ntoskrnl.dll issue. It's happened twice recently, once on 31st Jan and once on 2nd Feb.

    Also,

I have another problem which you might be able to help me with please and advise if an engineer needs to come and look.

Just before Christmas I noticed that the PC wouldn't turn off when I shut down. The hard disk and keyboard would turn off but the PC power light and internal fan would remain active. I thought it was just an aboration and I had just put it to sleep mode not shut down.

However, recently this is now becoming the norm and it is once every 2 or 3 shut downs that this happens and I must physically turn off the power.

Could you possibly advise on the best course of action?

    Many thanks for your time.

Re: BSOD and Shut Down issues.

    Good evening,

Another BSOD occurred last night. Please could someone come back to me? The computer still leaves the fan and power light on even though Windows and the Hard Disk have shut down.

As yet no response from the Scan Team other than Sanjay above.

    Many thanks

Not a scan employee, but I had a similar thing on mine when I adjusted a few bios settings once.

Is the BIOS set to enable power-on wake from LAN or wake from keyboard? If so this can be the cause. The system sits waiting for an on signal from ethernet/ keyboard "power" button respectively, but needs some juice running to be able to monitor the USB/PS2/RJ45 port signals, hence the PSU and fans still running (and the system power on light still being on - in my case it goes dimmer, but not all would do that necessarily)

When it is sat in this state after shutting down wait a while then try pushing your keyboard power button. Does it turn the machine on?

If so see if BIOS -> start up options -> start from keyboard is set to on. Try toggling it to off and see if that helps resolve things.
