Thanks Philip. Not long to go

    SonyCloWn

I think my build is using the old stepping of i7 as i placed my order before the D0 was listed as a configuration option. I think the Scan guys said it will overclock to 3.6 Ghz.

The Noctua NH-U12P heatsink and fan kit will be fine for these overclocks. Plus from the reviews it seems to be almost as efficent at cooling under low fan speed as it is at the high setting - and silent.

Macdons, we can swap the CPU to a D0 stepping if you like, failing that the C0 stepping will be clocked at 3.6Ghz.

    Best Regards

Re: New 3XS X58 Core i7 advice required

Thankyou Philip and the Scan build guys for a great system and a smooth uncomplicated order process.

The system came in a huge Scan labelled box and was very well protected by bubble wrap and airbags. The system was inside it's own silverstone box with all the manuals, disks and cables inside the motherboard box.

The Silverstone FT01 case is a joy to behold in all it is sleek sexy blackness. The cabling inside the case is so neat and tidy i just had to stare at it for five minutes, it really is great.

The computer booted first time and all the drivers were up to date, the bios was the latest stable issue. All the Vista security updates had been loaded so all i had to do was setup my email account and transfer my old systems emails & addresses.

Even though the system is overclocked to 3.6Ghz it has been stable and quiet even when running for long periods of time.

I'm really happy with the system and i'm glad i decide to buy from Scan.

  5. Received thanks from:
