    3XS Motherboard Q?

I was wondering what the motherboard of the 3XS Intel X58 Core i7 systems looked like.

I'm going to be ordering one pretty much with the standard config, including the
GeForce GTX260 graphics card. Looking around, it says that it takes up 2 PCI-e slots, and I'm wondering if there will be one more available for a Matrox RT.X2 card that takes one PCI-e slot.

Does anyone have this configuration? I'll be running CS4. Will these two cards play nicely together?

Any advice and help would be great.

    Many thanks,
    Clint

Here is a pic of what the default motherboard looks like.

Seems the link only works for me when I copy paste it into Firefox/IE.

No, I'm getting this page when I click and when I paste it in my address bar:
    (the h t t p part is removed because I can't post links yet as I'm a new member)

    asus.com/busy.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/prog_content/middle_enlargement.aspx

Do you know the name and product number and I can google it?

    Thanks,

I've made it to the ASUS motherboard page for the i7 systems.

Is it that P6T or Rampage?

I think the Asus site is being updated at the mo' (I'm getting loads of errors and maintenance msgs) - Marcel's link will probably work in a little while when they're finished with the maintenance.

The mobo used by Scan is the Asus P6T Deluxe, I believe. There seem to be plenty of independent reviews, details and pictures if you Google it.

I expect someone from Scan will be along in a while, to confirm whether or not the two cards you mention will a) fit and b) work as expected. It's always best to get questions like this sorted out beforehand.

    Gatebasher_311

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you, we use the Asus P6T main board in our systems,

    Asus P6T Deluxe

You should be able to see a picture on the above link; your GTX 260 will take up the top blue slot and the PCI slot directly underneath it.

Your Matrox card can either go above this in the 1x slot or in either one of the bottom x16 Physical slots.

I can see no reason why the cards would not work together, I will however get our resident Video editing expert PeterD to have a look over and give any recommendations.

If you need me for anything else do not hesitate to post up.

    Cheers

    Re: 3XS Motherboard Q?

    Hi Philipp,

Thank you for the reply and the pic. I'm new to Scan, but I'm sure I'll be sticking around in the future.

I was wondering if you had asked about any known conflicts between the two cards:
Matrox RT.X2LE and the GeForce GTX 260

    Many thanks,
    Clint

    Does RAID help video editing?

    http://3xs.scan.co.uk/ShowSystem.asp?SystemID=880

The computer I'm going to be ordering won't be too much off the spec for the main 3XS system, but I've heard that for video editing, RAID (striped) helps with the bandwidth demands of editing HD footage.
Is it possible to get this PC with some sort of RAID built in, or do I have have to go for one of the more expensive Video Editing computers?
Can someone shed some light on this topic?

    Many thanks,
    Clint

Help Comparing GeForce vs PNY Quatro

I'm torn between two 3XS systems and the video card is probably the most important because my rig will be used for editing and converting DV, HDV and AVCHD video with Premiere CS4. I will also be capturing with the Matrox RT.X2LE PCI-e card.

    These are the two cards:

    NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

I'm still a bit new at this high quality system building, but any opinions would be great!

    Many thanks,
    Clint

    Hi Clint,

Sorry I haven't had time to reply sooner things have been manic today.
I have been working with Edius & CS4 recently creating some blue ray promotion DVD's.
I'll check over your spec and post back soon.
Maybe we can have a chat next week if you have some spare time.

    Regards,
